Do you have a story you are hungry to share? Have you ever considered telling this story dramatically? Join playwright John McCann in exploring what it means to write a play. How do you get started? Are there rules you should follow when writing for the stage? After 2500 years why has theatre remained such a timeless vehicle for telling wonderful stories? In this fun and inclusive workshop we will explore these questions and lots more.
John McCann is a professional playwright. He is originally from Portadown, Co.Armagh, but now lives in Tayport, Fife. Before moving to Scotland he was Outreach Director with Tinderbox Theatre Company in Belfast where he also devised and directed a number of community productions including CHAAT MASALA – A BOLLYWOOD FOR BELFAST and HAPPENSTANCE. His plays include THE CLEANROOM (Tinderbox Theatre Company, Dir. Michael Duke), as part of the acclaimed TRUE NORTH project. FAMLA and THE FOUNDS (Tinderbox, Dir.Patrick O’Reilly), SPOILING (Traverse Theatre. Dir. Orla O’Loughlin) which won a Scotsman Fringe First before transferring to the Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2014. COMET (Replay Theatre Company. Dir.
