Spring 16 at Dundee Rep

Dundee Rep Theatre 2016 Spring Season

January to July 2016

Love is in the air as Dundee Rep celebrates a season of love and romance

Dundee Rep Theatre begins the year by welcoming back director and designer Kenny Miller with a new production of Agatha Christie’s brilliant thriller Witness for the Prosecution (24 Feb – 19 March).

As the winter months begin to wear off the love bug bites with a series of love related plays with love and romance at its heart. The love season kicks off with Dundee Rep Ensemble collaborating with Glasgow based company Noisemaker, with a story of real friendship in Little Red and the Wolf (29 March – 9 April). This fresh look at a timeless fairytale by Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie will take family audiences on a new musical adventure.

Following this, Dundee Rep Ensemble invites you to fall in love with John Kolvenbach’s  Love Song (13-23 April), visiting director Andrew Panton directs this offbeat romantic comedy centred on a small family that journey along the perilous edge of hope and reality.

Rep Ensemble member Irene Macdougall swaps acting for directing in June when she directs fellow Ensemble members in Much ado About Nothing (9-25 June). One of Shakespeare’s most frequently performed romantic comedies, Much ado About Nothing is Shakespeare’s wittiest comedy of words, loyalty and the search for love which brings Dundee Rep’s season of love to an adoring close.

This year Scotland’s principal contemporary dance company Scottish Dance Theatre celebrate its 30th birthday marking this special occasion with a series of events throughout the year. The celebrations get underway with a double bill performed at Dundee Rep Theatre (12 & 13 February). Dreamers by Anton Lachky and Process Day by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar will embark on a UK tour after performing here in Dundee.

Dundee Rep is excited to announce that Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine will be its 2016 magical Christmas show. Performed from 24 November until 31 December 2016, we will see George making a new medicine for his grumpy grandma which has alarming consequences.

Our season of love will touch your heart and inspire your soul – whatever your age.
