Easter at Dundee Rep

This Easter Dundee Rep Theatre will host its fourth Children’s Festival, a two week festival of storytelling, puppetry and drama. Seven fantastic productions for children of all ages will be performed over the Easter school holidays, so no matter what the weather there’s something to see and do at Dundee Rep Theatre.

The festival opens with Oor Scotland and Oor Rabbie (Mon 6 & Fri 10 April), two Scottish tales by storyteller Andy Cannon and musician Wendy Weatherby.

You will meet a family of worms in Eco Drama’s The Worm – An Underground Adventure (Tue 7 April). The worm is a fun-filled musical tale guaranteed to make everyone giggle, wiggle and love the squirmy wonders beneath our feet. After the show audience members are invited to see some real worms in a specially designed wormery.

Join the puppet stew crew (Wed 8 April) with their Puppets! Puppets! Puppets! Young audience members can make their own puppet with help from the stew crew. Hours of imaginative play lie ahead when they take home their very own fabulous rod puppet.

Let your hair down with Rapunzel (Wed 8 April) with specially recorded music, beautifully made puppets, and Steve Smart’s masterly puppetry skills, this is a show that will be enjoyed by adults and children alike. Narrated by a wonderful frog, this fun adaptation has all the elements of a traditional tale, the beautiful girl locked in a tall tower and a very handsome prince.

Komedia present Pitschi, The Kitten with Dreams (Thu 9 April). Pitschi the kitten lives with her brothers and sisters, Grandma Lisette and a dog called Bello on a farm high up in the Swiss Alps. Pitschi goes on an exciting adventure around the farm to meet the other animals, dreaming of being something else but finally discovers that she can be happy by being exactly what she is.

Macrobert and Barrowland Ballet present The Pine Tree, Poggle and Me (Sat 11 April). Join Poogle, a friendly creature and explore the forest and the magical musical tree, in this funny, sensory dance theatre piece for ages 1-4.
