Dundee Rep Artistic Director, Andrew Panton on BBC Children in Need Appeal Show

We are delighted to announce that our Joint-Chief Executive/Artistic Director, Andrew Panton will feature on this evenings BBC Children in Need 2018 and special Scotland's Best Bits highlights show this Sunday.

Andrew is the Choir Master and Vocal Coach for the BBC Children in Need Choir and has been working with a group of over one hundred young people from a range of schools across West Dunbartonshire in preparation for the live show. The participants will join another twelve choirs from around the UK as they sing in unison during tonight’s show on BBC One.

We are thrilled to see the continuous work that Andrew is doing for BBC Children in Need and across other communities throughout Scotland. The ability to inspire and provide opportunities for young people in Scotland is something that is important to both Andrew and the work that we do at the Rep.

One of the projects we’re most proud of is Enterprise @ the Rep which celebrates its tenth anniversary next year. During this unique two-day event, eighty S4, S5 and S6 pupils from schools across the local area will work alongside theatre professionals across all departments, including directing, scenic design, lighting, dance, composition and much more, giving them hands-on experience of what it’s like to work in the industry.

Speaking about his work with the BBC Children in Need Choir, Andrew said:

“I’m really pleased of our continued connection with Children in Need and to be working with the BBC team again this year. The work the charity does for children and young people is vital and it’s a great honour to be able to play a small part in the annual event. Providing opportunities for young people from all backgrounds is at the heart of our work at the Rep"
