Make an Impact

We rely on support from trusts and foundations to deliver our creative learning programmes in the community, as well as for key building maintenance and upgrades, and to develop new work.

Two examples of how a trust’s support can make a big impact to our work are below. If you would like to find out more about what can be achieved, please contact our Development team today.

For Scottish Dance Theatre’s 30th birthday, Artistic Director Fleur Darkin and Head of Creative Learning Dawn Hartley wanted to launch a youth dance company in the Whitfield area of Dundee, one of the lowest-income neighbourhoods in the country.

Check out our short film below about how the project came about, why it’s unique to Dundee and how it’s stamped with our particular Scottish Dance Theatre style!

We are grateful for the support of the People’s Postcode Trust and the Northwood Charitable Trust for helping us launch this inspiring new youth dance project in 2016/17.

The Robertson Trust helps support the cost of two young actors participating in our Graduates Scheme, which makes a huge difference to the graduates journey from school to stage. Each year, these actors train with our own Ensemble members, benefiting from the training and support of amazing actors, directors and producers and trying on different roles from Shakespeare drama to children’s plays and musicals.

Check out the short clip below of two recent graduates describing the scheme and the effects it’s had on their careers!
