Dramatherapy

Dundee Rep is the only Theatre in the UK to offer this unique service.

We run an Adult Service which is funded through the Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership and a Children and Young Person’s Service which is funded through Comic Relief.

Dramatherapy can help safely explore and process difficult feelings and mental health issues, build confidence and self esteem, address communication and socialisation problems, promote a sense of self-worth and encourage involvement, expression and connection with others.

Dramatherapy is a creative form of psychotherapy that has as its main focus the intentional use of healing aspects of drama and theatre as the therapeutic process. It is a method of working and playing that uses action methods to facilitate creativity, imagination, learning, insight and growth.

We follow a full referral and assessment procedure. Following an assessment, a child, young person or adult could be offered group or individual Dramatherapy sessions.

No previous acting experience is needed.
