Dundee Rep's Wellbeing Week

Dundee Rep’s Wellbeing Week is a week long programme of creative participation. It aims to promote the importance of improving health and wellbeing through creative activities.

Dundee Rep is hosting this free event which opens as part of Dundee's Women Festival. The local community will be able to experience the arts and learn new skills by participating in theatre, singing workshops, and finding out what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ at the Rep.

Rep Wellbeing Week opens with a Women’s Singing Workshop on Saturday 21 March at 2pm. Dundee’s own Alice Marra will facilitate a fun hour-long singing session that is open to women of all abilities. This workshop is open to women only but remaining events in Rep Wellbeing Week are open to both men and women.

Dundee Rep’s award-winning production team will be offering an Interactive Backstage Tour, on Tuesday 24 March from 1pm. This backstage tour will reveal some, if not, all of the tricks of the trade.

The Acting from Script workshop will take place on Wednesday 25 March at 10.30am until 12 noon. Visiting director, Aly Woodhouse, will coach participants in acting from scripts, which aims to build confidence.

Feel Good Drama Session, on Thursday 26 March at 11am is an informal introduction to participatory drama.  This session aims to excite, energise and unleash creativity.

Rep Wellbeing Week is open to all and events are free. Please book in advance by calling Dundee Rep box office on 01382 223530.

Dundee Rep’s Creative Learning Head of Community and Wellbeing, Suzie Morrice said: “Participatory theatre is an amazing way to improve wellbeing through creativity and play.  Dundee Rep is a building that buzzes with energy and creative possibility that is positively infectious.

“By making time for ourselves to create space in our heads, it can release tension and increase wellbeing.  Theatre is a place to exercise and develop the mind and body in a fun, informal and non-judgemental environment. Rep Wellbeing week offers singing, scripts, drama and a peek behind the scenes of the Rep. We would encourage anyone and everyone to get involved.”

Running alongside Rep Wellbeing Week, visiting theatre company Lung Ha brings a new version of RL Stevenson’s classic story The Strange Case of Jekyll & Hyde to the theatre.  The show opens on Wednesday 25 March at 7.30pm, tickets on sale at Dundee Rep box office. Jericho House will perform Drink the Musical, 26 March at 7.30pm in Dundee Rep’s Bonar Hall. Tickets can be purchased through Claire by calling 07743816540 or email justbeedrama@gmail.com
